Digital News Production Workflow
What You Get
Digital news doesn't follow broadcast rules. Stories need to work on mobile screens, load quickly, and engage audiences who scroll fast. This program focuses on producing news specifically for digital platforms—websites, apps, YouTube, and social media.
The technical requirements differ from TV. You'll shoot vertically for Instagram Stories, edit in formats optimized for silent autoplay, and create thumbnail images that drive clicks without being misleading. We cover compression settings, aspect ratios for different platforms, and how to structure stories so people watch to the end.
Platform-specific production
Each platform has its own constraints. Twitter needs quick updates with embedded video. YouTube wants longer-form content with strong openings. TikTok requires fast pacing and text overlays. You'll learn how to adapt the same story for multiple platforms without just reposting the same file everywhere.
We also address the publishing workflow: content management systems, metadata tagging for SEO, analytics tracking, and how to update stories as they develop. Digital news is continuous—you're not locked into broadcast time slots.
